Alongside our client, Sandy Lane Projects, we are pleased to have works progressing well at Oceantech House.
Adjacent to the Cheam train station which brings logistical challenges, Oceantech House is a super lightweight commercial extension, providing two additional storeys for 24 new apartments to the existing concrete structure.
The original concrete frame provided a suitable structural base for the lightweight steel extension, and the existing columns are being extended through the roof to create a steel stub column, on to which the hot rolled steel grillage can be fixed.
Steelwork then provide support for the SFS columns and walls, alongside transferring loads back to the original columns and foundations. The cold rolled SFS frame can then be extended up to the new roof level.
The team have worked well to overcome the challenges of working in a live tight site, and we are enjoying seeing the scheme come to fruition, building on our relationship with Sandy Lane Projects.
